Reading Section for the IELTS Academic
The Academic Test is designed for students who want to have further study at a university level in an English-speaking country. It is the most difficult of the two IELTS moduels since it assesses the candidate's analytical, critical thinking, and reading abilities at the university level or academic level. This is to see if you will be able to keep up with the course work in the academic fields of your further study.
As compared to the General modules - The IELTS General exam, unlike the Academic exam, does not assess higher order thinking abilities or critical reasoning at the university level. Instead, it tries to test your level of communication and fundamental comprehension, which will aid in your survival and communication in a new context where English is the language of communication.
